NO, definitely not! Removable and fixed braces have different purposes. In general, the one or the other could not replace either functions, however, they can complement each other!

Different than the removable brace, the fixed brace takes effect 24/7! Also, due to the brackets the needed force can be applied more direct and controlled on the teeth. In most cases, only a fixed brace can lead to the desired effect, for example when teeth have to be moved directed. Here, a removable brace is not able to take over this function.
